Infernity Decks are one of the newest competitive Decks, made possible by the release of The Shining Darkness. Infernity Decks are unlike any other Deck. While most Duelists like to have a lot of cards in their hands, Infernity Duelists need to have no cards in their hands in order for them to use their best cards!
Most Infernity cards will only work for a Duelist with no cards in his hand. That’s why the Infernity Decks you see in tournaments don’t usually run a lot of monsters. Since you can only Normal Summon one monster each turn, drawing too many can clog up a Duelist’s hand. Spells and Traps, however, can be Set face-down immediately so you never have to worry about them getting stuck in your hand.
Infernity Decks usually rely on getting Infernity Archfiend, Infernity Necromancer, and Infernity Beetle into the Graveyard to win. That’s why they run cards like Foolish Burial and Infernity Inferno to send those monsters from the Deck to the Graveyard. Infernity Inferno also helps Duelists discard the unwanted cards in their hands. Once a Duelist gets those 3 monsters into the Graveyard, he can use a single copy of Infernity Mirage or Infernity Launcher to win the Duel!

The U.S. World Championship Qualifier event isn’t just for Duelists who have their invites and want to compete for the chance to represent the United States at the World Championship in August. It’s not even just for residents of the United States! The WCQ in Minneapolis, Minnesota is for every Duelist who wants to be a part of the most spectacular (and fun!) event of the year. Players who aren’t qualified can show up just to Duel and meet new people by playing in one of the many Public Events that will be offered over the weekend. One event that’s sure to be popular this year actually debuted last year and was deemed “totally awesome” by the Duelists who participated in it! It’s called “Go for the Gold!” and you’ll find nothing else quite like it.

There are lots of monsters out there that Duelists want to use as often as possible because of their amazing effects that just happen to also have low ATK. For example, Rescue Cat’s effect to Special Summon 2 Level 3 or lower Beast-Type monsters is powerful enough to have an entire Deck built around it, even though Rescue Cat is Limited. Today we’re going to look at a card that lets you use these monsters’ effects more than once, by Special Summoning them from the Graveyard: Damage Gate from The Shining Darkness!

Frog Decks got a big power boost from Ronintoadin, but they aren’t the only Deck that won big from it. Monarch Decks can use it too! While Treeborn Frog has been a near staple in almost every Monarch Deck in existence for the past few years, none of the other Frog cards really helped until Swap Frog from Stardust Overdrive.

While some Duelists gather cards to build their X-Saber and Infernity Decks, something lurks in the deep: a new strategy that mixes Fish cards with Genex monsters.

On Monday, PJ advocated finding new ways to play around Starlight Road while keeping powerful cards like Heavy Storm in your Deck. Today, Mike Kohanim is going to offer a different perspective, namely that if you don’t put the cards that destroy 2 or more opposing cards in your Deck, then Starlight Road is useless against you. After you read both sides of the argument, tell us what YOU think at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. We’ll post some of the best responses next week!

Starlight Road can be the easiest card in the game to play around. Since your opponent can only activate it when 2 or more of his cards would be destroyed, you can easily avoid triggering it by not playing any cards that would destroy more than 1 of your opponent’s cards. For a lot of Decks, this is the best way to play around Starlight Road. When you’re falling behind and relying on mass-removal to turn a Duel around, giving your opponent an extra Stardust Dragon can make it impossible for you to win. By keeping cards like Heavy Storm, Torrential Tribute and Mirror Force out of your Deck, you’ll never need to worry about that happening.

There are many useful and powerful Fairy-Type monsters available to Duelists who want to make a Fairy Deck. Archlord Kristya is a powerhouse, adding a Fairy-Type monster from your Graveyard to your hand when it’s Special Summoned by its own effect, and then stopping all Special Summoning. Dimensional Alchemist can remove the top card of your Deck from play to gain 500 ATK, and when it’s destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, you can choose any of your removed from play monsters to add to your hand. In The Shining Darkness, Fairy Decks have another card that can swing Duels in their favour, the Level 6 Ritual monster Herald of Perfection.

Welcome to the first Great Debate! In this new feature, two writers will each discuss a major topic in Yu-Gi-Oh! strategy. You readers at home will get a chance to have your say too, and some of the best comments will be posted right here on the Strategy Site! If you want to take part, read both sides of the debate, and then send an email to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] with your comment!
Starlight Road is one of the most powerful new Trap Cards we’ve seen in a long time, and many Duelists have reacted to it in different ways. While lots of Duelists have decided to stop using cards that Starlight Road can negate, cards like Heavy Storm, Lightning Vortex and Icarus Attack, I’m here today to tell you that you can still use them and not lose out to one Yusei’s strongest cards.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

If you want to keep using your strongest cards, you’ll need to play around Starlight Road.

Quickdraw Dandywarrior was the Deck to beat at SHONEN JUMP Championship Edison, but 2 other Decks joined it in the Top 4. Billy Brake played his [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Synchro Cat Deck to a Top 4 finish, while Reinaldo Lainez made it all the way to the Finals with Gadgets. While Lainez’s Deck was a slow, controlling grind and Brake’s Deck was an explosive powerhouse, both had one thing in common: Doomcaliber Knight. With so much success at Edison, and a promising future in upcoming tournaments, let’s talk about how you can get the most out of Doomcaliber Knight.
Doomcaliber Knight’s 1900 ATK means it can take a big chunk out of your opponent’s Life Points, but its effect is the real reason to play it. Sure, you could just use it as a big attacker, but to get the most out of Doomcaliber you’ll want to play it in 1 of 3 ways:

Immediately attack a monster to negate its Flip or Trigger Effect.

If you attended the The Shining Darkness sneak peek a couple weeks back, you may have inadvertently attacked a few Ronintoadins during your sealed play. With 2000 DEF, Ronintoadin was a great card to defend with, stopping your opponent from making any sort of offense and buying time for you to draw your best cards. Now that the sneak peek has come and gone, however, you’ll find that there is a lot more to Ronintoadin than meets the eye.
While Ronintoadin is in your Graveyard, you can remove from play one “Frog” monster from your Graveyard to Special Summon it. It can’t be used for a Synchro Summon, but there are countless other uses for this effect, all of which can make your opponent go from laughing at the little toad to wishing he’d never seen it before.
