Hello. I'm new to DAD and while I have a fairly decent deck it's not living up to expectations on KCVDS. I'd like any and all advice for making it duel worthy on the KCVDS. I'm not the best deckbuilder so I need some help.
Monsters: 20
Chaos Emperor Dragon- Envoy of the End x1 (not particularly fond of it. It's hard to use and doesn't exactly suit the deck)
Summoned Skull x1
Bitelon x1
Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch x1
Berserk Gorilla x1
Luster Dragon x1
Gladiator Beast Andal x3
Insect Knight x1
Ninja Grandmaster Sasuke x1 (this is another card I'm iffy about, it was supposed to take out defense monsters slowing me down but honestly I almost never find a use for it)
Zolga x1 (a little weaker than I'd like but strong enough to stand on it's own and lovely effect for my tributes)
Asura Priest x1 (the idea for this one is to help me clear the field of weak monsters, more often than not it fails and the spirit thing is annoying)
Kelbek x3
Witch of the Black Forest x1 (honestly doesn't help as much as it used to)
Exiled Force x1
Old Vindictive Magician x1
Man-Eater Bug x1
Spells: 12
Lightning Vortex x1
Swords of Revealing Light x1
Change of Heart x1
Monster Reborn x1
Heavy Storm x1
Pot of Greed x1
Graceful Charity x1
Premature Burial x1
Axe of Despair x3
Mystical Space Typhoon x1
Traps: 8
Trap Hole x2
Bottomless Trap Hole x1
Torrential Tribute x1
Call of the Haunted x1
Sakuretsu Armor x3
The idea of the deck is to clear the opponent's field primarily of monsters and secondarily of magic/trap. This allows the beat down monsters to crush the opponent's life points faster. The monsters come in basically 3 forms:
1900 or higher attackers for beat down force
1500+ attackers that have useful effects
Defense monsters that mess with the opponent by clearing their field
I'm still tinkering with the tribute monsters to get maximum effect, I've been backing down on summoned skulls for slightly weaker ones with more powerful effects. The bitelon is only 100 points weaker but has piercing damage, thestalos isn't very helpful honestly I'd prefer a caius maybe if I had one.
The deck tends to fair very well in most situations. Raw monster power and the ability to counter almost anything are definitely it's strong points. Weak points seem to arise when it fights crystal beasts definately, I try to counter by including anti magic cards but it just isn't enough. Glad beasts and Blackwings also take it down fast, the glad beasts just seem to be able to crush everything in their path and attack like 10 times in one turn and the black wings counter things and get weird power boosts at the last minute.
It's fair to assume that the deck is having trouble with the newer archetypes. I'm not quite as up on them as I'd like to be but it seems some skill drains would go a long way with countering them as they rely VERY heavily on monster effects and it wouldn't hamper most of my monsters too terribly.
Right now for KCVDS purposes I have a few main concerns:
1. Legalizing the deck for advanced format
2. Optimizing it's general effectiveness
Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated. =]
