Everyone knows how there is a ban list that is updated every 6 months...what some might not realize is that a lot of the cards that are on there are there for good reason, whether it's b/c of it being broken or overpowering. I will talk about several cards that were put on the ban list and those that were restricted due to their various effects...
The first one on the list for me to talk about is a spell card that was just recently banned this past September...
I am sure a good amount of people were suprised/upset when they saw that this card was banned...even though it was banned for good reason...800 LP to pay to gain control of a face-up monster on your opponent's side of the field is a very nice perk, considering that it can make a major difference in a duel, especially with the monsters/strategies that have come to light for the past couple years...
The next card to talk about is a monster that went from being unlimited to banned (shockingly)
This card, in my opinion, came as a complete shock to a lot of people who ran Frognarch decks or other decks that revolved around frogs...this card is not only able to tribute 1 monster to bring out a frog monster (except Frog the Jam) from the deck to the field, but it also keeps all frog monsters (except Frog the Jam) from being destroyed by battle as long as this card is face-up on the field, so it can set up some nice combinations and even keep frogs alive to help get some tribute monsters out quickly...so, all in all, it was a shock, but it was livable, considering there are other types of decks to work with lol
Next up is a spell card that was moved from Limited to Forbidden
I was not particularly surprised to see this card get banned...this card was usually a nasty killer for ANY duelist who had a decent back row plan set up...being able to destroy all spells and trap cards on the field can be benificial AND hazardous, depending on who is using it and if the user has cards in the back row...one main reason for it being banned (most likely the biggest reason) is that this card could destroy the back row and allow the user of it to attack without worry of any opposition in the back row such as Mirror Force, Dimensional Prison, etc. In a way, it has weakened some of the s/t destruction abilities in a way, but in the end, it could be handy to help duelists be able to find other ways to destroy s/t cards without using heavy storm
The last card for me to talk about in this topic is one that was moved from Limited to Unlimited (god save those who go against it lol)
I know, it looks like it's an effect monster...it's actually a Synchro monster...evidently whoever did this netrep stuff sucked on finding the actual cards or it's a misprint lol...this card is guaranteed to be ABUSED LIKE CRAZY because of its effect...whenever it gets synchro summoned, the controller has the option to use this card's effect and nuke the entire field (destroy all cards, including itself), which can be advantageous and disadvantageous, depending on what the user is planning...this Signer Dragon has been nasty in the past, even as a Limited card, and, personally, I think unlimiting it was a bit too much...should have either stayed Limited or make it Semi-Limited...oh well...however, those who like this dragon are able to use more of it and it is handy as well for decks that run a good plant base to use its second effect, which is to remove a plant from play to change 1 monster the controller's opponent controls to face-up attack position and reduce its attack to 0...
Well, that is it for now; hope you enjoyed this article and maybe learned something about why things get banned and all that XD look for part 2 to arrive sometime in the near future
